Business Development Manager
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to support the growth of Resilience Children Services Ltd. You will drive our expansion strategy — building relationships with commissioners and local authorities, identifying new homes, and ensuring our service is known and trusted across the sector.
Duties & responsibilities
- Develop and implement growth strategies to support expansion into multiple homes and new geographic areas.
- Liaise with senior management to determine new range of services to provide.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, commissioners, placement teams, and external stakeholders to increase referral opportunities.
- Monitor market demand, competitor activity, and placement shortages to identify suitable locations and opportunities for new homes.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff.
- Identify commissioning opportunities, prepare business proposals, and support framework applications and tender submissions.
- Establish partnerships with education providers, therapeutic services, and community organisations to strengthen service delivery and reputation.
- Track occupancy levels, referral conversion rates, business targets, and expansion performance indicators.
- Produce business development reports, growth forecasts, and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Work closely with operational and care teams to ensure business growth aligns with service quality and regulatory requirements.
Skills & experience required
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or growth strategy — ideally within children's services, social care, healthcare, or regulated environments.
- Strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and placement teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present proposals and negotiate opportunities.
- Strategic thinking with experience creating and implementing business development plans aligned with organisational goals.
- Good team working skills.
- Demonstrable measurable achievements such as increasing referrals, improving occupancy, securing contracts, or growing revenue.
- Understanding of Ofsted-regulated children's residential care and knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, and sector expectations.
